Shebeer - I do not work for Microsoft. But my advice will sound like it's from one of their recruiters. I have had a chance to interview at Microsoft for various positions. Unfortunately, I didn't impress them. No bone to pick here. I know they must pick the best of best. My advice to you is that do not tell the recruiters at Microsoft that the main reason why you want to work there is because "...I really love Microsoft since my childhood." We all want to work at Microsoft. And Microsoft also knows that most people want to work there. This is why they've such rigorous interviews so as to ensure whoever they pick will bring value to them. My friends tell me that Microsoft offers excellent benefits. It only makes sense that you prove to them that you are a change agent before they invest in you.

I'm sorry to tell you that it's not enough to say that your childhood dream has been to work for Microsoft. You must qualify this by stating clearly how the company will benefit from your presence there. You must tell the recruiters what you'll bring to the table if offered a job. If you can explain this as clearly as you can, you'll sure get a job at Microsoft.

I would have to disagree with the description form the TAM. They are not a trusted "business advisor" in any case. They rarely interact with the business outside of IT, of at all. They become a trusted technical advisor if they do their job well. The Account Technology Strategist is more of a trusted business to Technology advisor.

  • Nate said:

That is an interesting opinion of the TAM role Jason Ht. In my limited experience, it seems that you become trusted at the levels where you provide the most insight, or where your insight is the most valuable. I think one of the great things about working for a company like Microsoft is the freedom to grow and explore your capabilities. Good luck to all of the applicants, passion is everything.
