Jim was in India...are you ready for this?! (Part II of II)

JimI knew that Microsoft was making an impact on the economy in Hyderabad, but I didn't know how significant it was.

Check out this video where my friend AK Menon explains the positive influence we have made in India.  And if you like what AK has to say, hear more about the MS India Development Center on my previous post.

All bullshit story. In MS-india a marketing guy can become a DevLead and IBM-mainframe guy who don't know anything on MS technology can be a Techlead.

Full of politics with regional biasism no recognition of talent and bullshit work.Whom are they trying to pleased to??

You are having a illusion my friend.See the what is inside the bottle...You know the funny story UR Sr application developer don't know what an iis is and what an app pool is.

Your HR don't know anything other then number of year of exp then may be it in doing junk works. You have more leads and managers giving unnecessary funda less talented folks.

I hope you get the picture correct now...if not try to correct it...else you ll regret

    Hi,

Is Microsoft planning to open development offices in Pakistan in near future?

    Thanks

    Dear Ahmad,

I appreciate your understanding for Microsoft - super power etc etc.....

However, my dear friend, do not forget that bigger the organization, more bureaucratic functioning-mind it. I have worked at MSFT India,  and I know the selection process too. No doubt they hire talented people, but in the quest of hiring the best, they often tend to neglect *real* talent. With so rigid hiring practices that more often than not prove fragile, off late they have started hiring on compromises. I am not discouraging you, but yes, truth be told, if it has to be this way. Good Luck.

    Dear Drifted,

In what context do they mean neglect real talent. In what aspects?? I'm sure for the core technical posts of SDE,SDET and PM, only talent is valued and they would not compromise talent for these... I dono about the other semi and non technical posts.. Please enlighten me further would be of help!!!

I think downplaying the selection process is a result of plain jealousy.

I would suggest people who point out flaws in MS's hiring policies get interviewed with any of the thousands of other companies and, when they get rejected just because "they don't know how to write a P/L SQL stored procedure or an AJAX application", look back at their MS interview and think about how much better they were at judging your talent.

Jim, how many cafes did you have to go through until you found one with that menu?

I am not sure if it is the recruiting process or something. But I can surely tell you one thing. The process is way too late. I tend to believe that recruiters in India are not well informed. I requested my recruiter to tell me at least if I am being considered still. So far, recuriter had been saying this, that, this but does not answer my question. I know hiring can take time, but not rejecting :)
